Heather Powell, RD

Heather is our staff dietician. She offers personalized intervention for nearly all of your child’s medical nutrition needs. Good nutrition is a cornerstone to raising healthy children, but can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Heather is skilled in counseling parents and their children about various nutritional concerns, including:

  • Weight concerns
  • Picky eating
  • Sports nutrition
  • Food allergies
  • Vitamin and mineral deficiencies
  • GI conditions
  • Vegan/vegetarian diets
  • Abnormal nutrition-related labs
  • Values (elevated
    cholesterol, triglycerides, etc.)

Visits with the dietician include a comprehensive assessment of your child’s nutritional and medical histories, and developing a family plan for healthy eating. We schedule follow-up visits according to the needs of your child. If your child is not a patient at Northwest Pediatric Center, they can be referred to our dietician either by self-referral or by their provider.

About Heather:

Heather graduated from Central Washington University in 2010 with a bachelors degree in Food Science and Nutrition. Following graduation, she attended a Dietetic Internship through Central Washington University, where she worked in various hospitals and public health clinics throughout central Washington.

After obtaining her RD certification, Heather moved to Las Vegas to gain experience as a dietitian. In Las Vegas, she worked in a critical care hospital where she provided nutritional counseling to children and adults. Although she loved the fast-paced hospital setting, she missed having time with patients and made the switch to outpatient counseling.

After growing up in southwest Washington, Heather missed her family and the beautiful landscapes of Washington, prompting her to leave Las Vegas. Heather loves the outdoors and spending time at the beach. Some of her other hobbies include reading, spending time with family, and rooting for all the Seattle sports teams.
