Canine Comfort Corps

NWPC patients and families know that our Canine Comfort Corps dogs have been temperament tested with kids of all ages, and have been called upon for everything from blood draws and vaccinations to comfort for kids with autism and exposure therapy for anxiety.

On the medical side, the Canine Comfort Corps helps put our patients at ease during potentially traumatic office procedures. And, when working with our Behavioral Health Consultants, the dogs’ presence alone often brings comfort.

From 2000 to 2010, seeing-eye puppies were raised in our clinic for Guide Dogs of America. This provided much-needed socialization for the dogs and demonstrated to us that animal-supported therapy truly benefited our patients.

Our first full-time clinic dogs were Daphne, a black Labrador Retriever owned by Dr. Lily Lo, and a yellow Labrador Retriever named Sophie, owned by Dr. Jennifer Polley. They both served faithfully in our clinic for more than 12 years and were beloved by all.

The Canine Comfort Corps continues that legacy with the three special dogs below:

Dillon, a yellow Lab serving at NWPC since 2014, is owned by Dr. Lo.
Summitt, a Mini American Shepherd that joined our Corps in 2025, is owned by Hanna Gash.
Loki, a yellow Lab belonging to our psychiatrist, Dr. T. K. Bender, works with patients.
