Well care

Parents need to know why your child’s well-care appointments are important and review our recommended schedule for well-care vaccinations.

Well care helps you know what to expect as your child grows and to establish an ongoing dialogue with the provider about your child’s development and growth.

Before your child’s well-care visit, be sure to prepare questions for your provider. In addition to overall health concerns, common issues to discuss include behavior, nutrition, language development and allergies.

Well-care appointments are scheduled to specifically address your child’s wellness issues, such as growth, development, sleep, eating, school, safety, hearing, vision, and immunizations. If parents have other, non-wellness related concerns to discuss with the provider, please notify us when you schedule the visit so we can set up an appropriate amount of time to discuss those other concerns.

Remember – Insurance regulations require us to bill separately for anything discussed at a well-child visit that is a distinct and separate health concern from what would normally be addressed at a well-care appointment.

It’s a good idea to schedule your child’s well-care visit well in advance to assure your provider’s availability.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) offers a free Ages & Stages texting program for parents with children up to age 5. You’ll receive messages about injury prevention; nutrition and feeding; what to expect at well-care check-ups; upcoming vaccine reminders; and developmental milestones to watch for. Visit the Healthy Children website to sign up.
